Cultivated chicken nuggets to be sold in Singapore

We were encouraged to see news this week that Singapore has given market approval to the first-ever product with cultivated cells. This means the product, Just Eat’s chicken nuggets, will soon be sold to consumers in Singapore.

According to news reports, the Singapore Food Agency reviewed the process, manufacturing control, and underwent rigorous safety testing before granting approval.

At Mosa Meat, we welcome the news and see this as a great step forward for the cultivated meat industry.

Singapore is a visionary country dedicated to supporting new means of food production. Currently producing only about 10 per cent of its own food, the city-state has laid out plans to raise this figure over the next decade by supporting emerging industries such as cultivated meat.

This milestone confirms there is a clear path to market for cultivated meat in Singapore and we are encouraged to see the authorities working with companies to gain approval and start selling products.
